Our pleasure to meet you

Sharon first stepped into the fashion spotlight at the tender age of seven (yes, SEVEN!), snagging the “Best Dressed” award in elementary school. While she liked to tell this tale with a bit of tongue-in-cheek, this wasn’t just about a kid with a cool outfit and a great eye. Even at this age, Sharon’s creativity, flair, and unique style was the green light to pursuing bigger dreams, setting the stage for the incredible professional life she is living today. During her stint at university, with a semester studying abroad at The London College of Fashion, Sharon immersed herself in not just head-to-toe style, but even “The Psychology of Fashion,” her favorite class. Fashion became the launchpad from which Sharon saw the world and she jumped in with both feet, putting her own spin on at-the-time-au-courant trend experiments (her full-on Goth look was the talk of the college, earning her a line outside of her dorm room as friends begged her to make them Halloween costumes on her beloved sewing machine – they knew genius when they saw it!). “I was learning that fashion is not only about fabric. It’s a vibrant conversation starter, an uplifting mood-booster, and sometimes a daring rule-breaker,” Sharon explains. She went on to turn her fascination and “passion for fashion” into a series of well-placed professional moves, from garment district buyer to costume designer in television and film, a career she loves and one that is balanced by the excitement of applying these same principles to working with real people via S²Style. For Sharon, every closet is still a playground, and every outfit is another chance to make some magic happen. Sharon emphasizes “My greatest joy comes from witnessing someone’s transformation in the mirror—the moment when their shoulders straighten, a grin spreads across their face, and their energy shifts.”

Stephanie’s adventure into the world of style began in 7th grade “home ec class” in Minneapolis. Who knew that making an A-line skirt would kickstart a career? Her fascination with garment construction deepened by creating clothing and costumes for everyone, even the family dog! Stephanie thrived on the challenge of reinventing old, beloved items, transforming them to feel unexpectedly thrilling to wear. Her hustle brought her to Santa Cruz where she crafted hand-embroidered halter tops, beaded suede belts, and blazers from recycled denim—an exploration of sustainable fashion before it was a thing! Returning home to the Midwest, Stephanie earned a BA at UW Madison in South American History and Italian Lit, spending a transformative year abroad in Bologna. But destiny lay elsewhere. Back in Minneapolis, a chance encounter occurred: a notice for costume interns at the Guthrie Theatre sparked a shift in focus, and her early passion for creating wearable art clicked into place! That internship provided invaluable experience, propelling a move to New York, with continued study at the NY Art Students League and The New School, after which she landed a job at Barbara Matera LTD., a celebrated costume house for Broadway, the American Ballet Theatre, and television and film (“fabrics were swatched and perfect buttons hunted for costumes designed by my heroes, Theoni Aldredge and Santa Loquasto” she swooned). Not too shabby for a first-time hire. Designing for independent theater and dance opened doors to a career as a commercial stylist. A first feature film opportunity arrived: The Wizard of Loneliness, set in post-WWII Vermont, followed by others, and the rest, as they say, is history. “My passion for personal styling has only intensified through a kaleidoscope of experiences,” adds Stephanie! “I know true style unlocks a joyful quest of self-discovery and outward expression.”
The secret sauce!
Sharon and Stephanie blend keen observation and intuitive guidance. They believe that style isn’t about chasing trends, but about celebrating individuality and turning self-expression into a superpower. Through every fitting and closet adventure, S²Style’s mission remains the same: helping others step into the world with confidence, radiance, and an expression of true self—one outfit at a time.
